it’s so fucking tough to decide on what to do because i’ve made so many new friends in the past year and i want to interact with their stuff but also
this account is 10 years old
idk if i’m ready to start being more active with all of my teenage goofin and doomposting attached. i definitely don’t want to delete this blog tho, it’s got a lot of sentimental value, so i’ll remake and archive for the first time in my life
not to be all “think of the children” but the fact that companies can openly admit to using methods to intentionally form addictions in children and we’re not killing their ceos in the streets yet is astounding
when I say “kids now don’t know how to disconnect” or “kids don’t know how to be bored anymore” i don’t mean “kids should sit in a white room in a solitary chair eating saltines and never touch technology” i mean “kids are losing the essential ability to imagine and create their own play because they have a constant 24/7 stream of more overstimulating material than they could ever watch at their fingertips, and when this stimulation is removed they literally don’t know what to do with themselves”
when I say “kids are addicted to video games” I don’t mean “ah these darn kids and their dag-blasted Ataris” I mean “video games are being purposefully designed to squeeze as much money/ad engagement out of the individual consumer as possible and mechanisms like lootboxes and season passes are intentionally engineered to create addiction”
i know it’s purely anecdotal but every time i think about that toddler who told his dad “don’t forget to like and subscribe” at bedtime because he thought it was how you said goodbye to people i feel sick
I know this is about technology, but it’s everywhere else, too. When I was remodeling a store and setting up the planograms, the manager told me that they place items and foods that would catch a child’s eye on lower shelves to get the children to notice them and “push” their parents into buying it. Of course, most of it was junk full of sugar. It’s not a coincidence that junk foods have brighter, more interesting packaging colors and designs, either. The rich scrutinize the working class for how they raise their children but would crumble if the working class didn’t play along in the game or fall for the manipulation tactics.
The more I learn about judaism the more I wonder where tf christianity got all its bad shit. Why is divorce a sin in christianity when judaism has recognized the right to divorce for nearly a millennia and has codified religious laws for it. Why does christianity consider sex to be dirty (to the point where puritans considered it a sin to enjoy having sex with your own spouse) when in judaism it’s considered holy and it’s a literal mitzvah to have sex with your spouse on the sabbath. Why does christianity consider it a sign that you’re faithless if you question your religion when in judaism that’s considered an essential part to developing your faith. I’m probably stating the obvious here but I still can’t get over the fact that there’s no historical basis to any of this shit before christianity started, it’s like christians just said “hey guys what if we took the torah and built a new religion around it but this time it was actively hostile to human life”
i mean. the answer to this is bc christianity is primarily based in roman culture and not jewish culture lol. if ur coming from the perspective that judaism is the genetic source of christian ideology/theology as per the dominant narrative and that’s it then you wind up with this kind of confusion ime
